Tecate Mission Trip - Thoughts from Thursday
Thoughts from Thursday June 14, 2018.
Today the arts and crafts team made buckets of bubble-blowing solution for the children at El Rancho, and Ezra showed them how to blow bubbles with their hands. The kids LOVED it! They played with the bubbles for an entire hour. The team also helped some of the children make soccer-themed necklaces and bracelets in honor of the upcoming World Cup. The boys loved the beads that looked like soccer balls.
Here is a picture I took while working on the storage building today.
The construction teams are continuing to make lots of progress on the storage building and concrete ramp. It isn’t clear whether or not we’ll finish those projects before we leave, but we are still glad to have accomplished so much.
Today I went with a small group of people to Primera Iglesia Bautista Sinaí, the Baptist church in Tecate that we attended on Sunday and Wednesday. We were supposed to help repaint the building, but when we arrived we found out that there were already workers there to do the task. At first it seemed that there was no reason for us to have gone to the church, but God ended up using this as an opportunity for someone in our group to talk about the Gospel. John Scheinpflug shared his testimony with the workers painting the building while Isaí, the pastor of PIB Sinaí, translated.
Thank you for all of the prayers and support that you have given so far. I would like to ask that you continue to pray for us as the trip comes to a close. Please pray for the construction team as we work hard to wrap up the projects we are working on. Please also pray that the barbecue we are planning for tomorrow night goes well. Finally, please pray that everything we have done so far will make a lasting impact on the people of Tecate.
All of us have learned a lot about God, ourselves, and each other. We can’t wait to share our stories when we return to Skokie Valley.
