GET INVOLVED at svbc
Skokie Valley loves children!
Our children's ministry's mission is to partner with parents in spiritual training and instruction in a loving environment so that each child can learn what it means to be a committed follower of Christ (Ephesians. 6:4).
We strive to equip each child with an overview of God’s Story in the Bible through the following values:
• Age appropriate teaching of Biblical truths
• Life-applicable, meaningful, hands-on activities
• Opportunities to make faith commitments
• Active participation in family worship and prayer
• A safe, secure environment in which to build Christian friendships
Children will learn about the love of Jesus and have fun doing it!
On Sunday mornings during the 11am service, children get to enjoy their own special time of worship at the same time as their parents. Children's Church (ages 2 - kindergarten) and Kids' Church (grades 1st -5th) bring a weekly Bible lesson, Bible based activities, and time of worship. Plus, children get the chance to dive deeper into God's Word during Sunday school. Children's Church and Sunday School run year round while Kids' Church takes a break during the summer.
Come join us:
Sunday School at 9:45am
Children's Church and Kids' Church at 11am
Is your baby restless and seeking to escape and explore during service?
Do you need a place to nurse or to perform a diaper change, but don't want to miss the message?
Have you been up for days caring for your newborn and just need a break?
Come visit us in the nursery!
During the 9:45am Sunday School hour and 11am worship service, the nursery is staffed with wonderful caregivers who will watch over your precious little ones who are under two years old. Parents are more than welcome to stay with their little ones or give our caregivers charge over them. And so you don't have to miss any part of the service, we always have it playing through the speakers.
Here's when we're open:
Self-serve from 8:30am-9:45am - The nursery is available for parents to watch their own children during the 8:30am service. Please make sure to put the toys and books back when you're finished.
9:45am -12:15pm - Nursery caregivers are available and happy to help

MULTI-CULTURAL & MULTI-GENERATIONAL
The servant-hearted congregants of Skokie Valley Baptist Church represent several generations and more than 35 different nationalities, and we worship one creative Creator God. We regularly sing contemporary worship songs, traditional hymns, classical pieces, and Gospel songs, and we involve international worship music as well. If you are interested in contributing to our collective musical worship of the Triune God, whether through playing an instrument (any instrument!) or singing, contact us at email@example.com.
The Media Ministry of Skokie Valley Baptist Church is a versatile and resourceful team who help the Truth and Beauty of the Gospel to be efficiently proclaimed through balancing the sound of musical worship accompaniment, projecting Scriptural points and poetic lyrics, and other ways of making most endeavors of the church technically possible. They also utilize advances in technology to further the church’s ministry. Have a good ear for musical balance? Do you like electronics and production? If you are interested in participating in our church ministry as a sound board or projection operator, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
THE GOSPEL ENSEMBLE
The Gospel Ensemble at Skokie Valley Baptist Church is a Gospel choir that practices two Sunday afternoons per month and sings on Sunday mornings on occasion. If you’re interested in joining the Gospel Ensemble as a singer or instrumentalist, contact us at email@example.com.
DRAMA AND VISUAL ARTS MINISTRY
Skokie Valley Baptist Church uses the power of story and visuals to creatively teach Scriptural truths. We have occasional sketches during Sunday morning services and also for other church events, both live and filmed. Skokie Valley Baptist Church also has a few professional visual artists that serve in the congregation. If you are interested in participating in the drama or visual arts ministry at Skokie Valley Baptist Church, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our annual celebrations of Easter and Christmas sometimes involve an adult choir. Be sure to look for the dates and times of rehearsals and be sure to sign up! Contact us at email@example.com for more information.

WHAT OUTREACH PACKS THE MOST PUNCH?
If you asked me, I'd say, "Being an usher." If you were an usher, you'd be the first person a guest meets. If you have a heart for outreach and take this opportunity seriously, we'll train you on what to do. Contact Ted Lauke here.
EXPLORE LIFE AND THE CHRISTIAN FAITH
Alpha is a series of interactive sessions where anyone can explore life and the Christian faith in a friendly, open and informal environment. Alpha is designed particularly for people who would not describe themselves as Christians or church-goers. When in session Alpha meets every Tues. night at 6:30 p.m. And dinner's on us!
Every 1st Thursday at 10:00 a.m. we meet at this nursing home at 432 Poplar Drive in Wilmette. Along with singing and sharing a message, our team visits with the residents. For more information, contact Muriel here.
FAMILIES SERVING TOGETHER
Wouldn't it be great to do service projects with your kids? Gretchen Dobie plans events every quarter or so. It might be to pack books at Bernie's Books, make cards for soldiers, forest restoration or other events. Gretchen also publishes a sheet of do-it-yourself service projects. Watch the church calendar for the next event or see the display in the lobby. Contact Gretchen here.
Bring the kids & do a lot of good in under 1 hour. We’ve adopted the Forest Preserve. Help clean up once a month at 12:30 on Sundays. Skokie Lagoons- Tower Rd boat Launch (not canoe launch). Questions? Contact Gretchen here.
