Vision
The vision of SVBC is to create Biblical community in the near
north suburbs of Chicago by celebrating God's love and connecting people
with God, others, and self through Jesus Christ.
Values
SVBC will be a Biblically informed church. We believe the
Bible points to the God who gives hope for the world and is the sole
authority for doctrinal teaching and ethical living. We believe the Bible
gives an accurate and true record of what we believe and how we should
live.
SVBC
will be a culturally relevant church. We seek to develop ministries
that are responsive to the needs, concerns, and questions of our present
society. Church tradition provides a rich heritage, but will not inhibit
contemporary ministry practices or priorities.
SVBC
will be a psychologically healthy church. We are committed to helping
individuals experience healing from the ravages of sin and brokenness in the
world, and to helping them grow in Christ so that their lives can be used by
God to serve others. We are also committed to restoring relationships by
seeking to encourage, forgive, serve, and accept each other as demonstrated
through honest, trusting, and loving relationships.
SVBC
will be a socially transforming church. We intend to help transform our
culture by seeking to introduce people of our communities to faith in
Christ, by supporting worldwide evangelism, by using our abilities to bring
about justice and effectiveness in our professional, social and political
organizations and by being sensitive to various family structures and
seeking to minister to the unique needs of those families and individuals.
