REGULAR WORSHIP SCHEDULE BEGINS NEXT SUNDAY, SEPT. 12

Please take note our Regular Worship schedule begins next Sunday, September 12, as follows: Corporate Prayer 8:00 a.m.; Worship Service 8:30 a.m.  Coffee Fellowship 9:45 a.m. Sunday School and Adult Bible Fellowship Classes 9:45–10:45 a.m.;  and Worship Service 11:00 a.m.      

PowerPoint Operator Ministry Opportunity

We need PowerPoint operators for the 8:30 a.m. service starting in September.  Qualifications: dependable; punctual; able to follow instructions; comfortable working with computers; able to stay focused on a task.  PowerPoint operators arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of the service and are scheduled on a rotating basis.  Please contact Gayle Ekstrom in person or via e-mail at gekstrom@rocketmail.com.  Include "PowerPoint" in the subject line of your e-mail.

SVBC BOOK CLUB

We meet the last Thursday of each month here at the church.  Our next meeting will be on Thursday, September 30.  Contact Rhodora Vasas for more information.

Borderline Ministries

A ministry for young adults meets every Tuesday night at 8:00 p.m. in the Youth Loft. Join us for a time of worship, fellowship, sharing life together, and solid Bible study. Open to all young adults in their 20s (and late teens), single, married, hopeful, we don't care. For more info contact Pastor Dave at 847.256.1050, ext. 208 or Alex Unis at 734.748.1705.

Evangelistic Crusade coming to Chicago

Once a year for the last 21 years, the Anaheim Stadium has been filled up to hear Pastor Greg Laurie preach the Gospel.  Thousands have responded to his call to turn to Christ.  Then other churches in other cities began asking him to come.  Now he’s been invited to Chicago and is supported by some 200 churches in this area.  Pastor Greg will be preaching at the Allstate Arena and we’re all going!  Want a ride?  On Friday, Sept. 24, we’re leaving here at 6:00 p.m.  On Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 25 and 26, we’re leaving here at 5:00 p.m.

ALL–CHURCH WORK NIGHT MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 20

We will have a work night on Monday, September 20, from 7:00–9:00 p.m. here at the church.  Everyone is invited to come and share in the ministry of maintaining our church building; there is something to do for all ages.  You will be blessed for serving!  For more information, contact Jake Condon at 847.409.8364.

¨ TUESDAY Nights, “Do Something!” with Pastor Ed, begins on Tuesdays, Sept. 21–Oct. 26, from 7:00–8:00 p.m. in rooms 208/210.  Learn how to put your faith into action and let God use you to bring faith to others.

¨ Wednesday Nights, with Pastor Dave Ekstrom, on Wednesdays beginning Sept. 15, from 6:45–8:00 p.m. in the Adult Classroom.

¨ THURSDAY Nights, with Pastor Dave Ekstrom, begins a study called “Fire In Your Bones” on Thursdays, Sept. 16, Oct. 7 & 21, Nov. 18, and Dec. 2 & 16, from 7:00–8:00 p.m. in rooms 208/210.

¨ WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY, 1st & 3rd THURSday Nights—A women’s Bible study meets every  1st and 3rd Thursday evenings  in the Adult Classroom from 7:00–8:30 p.m.  All women are invited!  For more information, contact Pastor Dave Ekstrom or Linda Stevens.

AWANA PLANNING MEETING

All AWANA leaders are invited to a planning meeting for the 2010-11 AWANA year this Wednesday, Sept. 8, at 6:30 p.m. in rooms 208/210.

AWANA IS COMING SOON!

Our AWANA program begins on Wednesday, September 15, for ages 3 through 5th grade from 6:45 to 8:15 p.m.  Clubbers learn that God is real, He loves them, and that He has expressed that love through Jesus Christ.  If you need more information or would like to register or volunteer, please contact Pastor Tim Stern at 847.256.1050.

AWANA NEEDS LEADERS

F.I.S.H. NIGHT AT THE STERNS Sunday, Sept. 5! 5:30-8:00 p.m.Tim and Katie are inviting all Junior and Senior High students for a cookout and fellowship at their house.  Bring your appetite and a friend!

YOUTH NIGHT AT ALLSTATE ARENA, SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 25

On Saturday, Sept. 25, we’re having a tailgate party at 4:00 p.m. here at the church.  Why?  Because we’ll be getting ready to head out to Youth Night at the Greg Laurie Evangelistic Crusade.  We’ll have free food.  The event is free, so invite a friend to this event and change their lives.  Kirk Franklin and Skillet are the featured artists for the evening.

OUTREACH OPPORTUNITIES

“HILDA’S PLACE” HOMELESS SHELTER MINISTRY

We are looking for future volunteers to help serve dinner each month to the residents of Hilda's Place, a homeless shelter in Evanston.  If you are unable to donate your time, Hilda’s Place still needs your donations!  See our main bulletin board today for information regarding what items are needed to keep their kitchen running smoothly.  Most items are inexpensive and available at the dollar store.  For more information, please contact Rich LeVeque at 847.502.7424 or at rich.leveque@anixter.com.                                                                                                

Family Events

FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT, SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 6:00-8:00 p.m.Be sure to join us Sunday, September 19, for a family-friendly movie night featuring, “Facing the Giants,” here at SVBC in the gym.  We will have popcorn and family fun!  It is optional to “B.Y.O.C.C.” (bring your own comfy chair). 

Paintball Outing Saturday, Oct. 9

High adventure for the whole family!  We will leave the church at 9:00 a.m. We will return to the church by 5:00 p.m Must be 12 years old or older.  We will spend the day at the amazing  Promise Land Paintball in Wisconsin.  Cost is $55 for equipment rental, 500 balls, CO2 and a good lunch.  Space is limited, so sign up in narthex with Tim Stern by making a $25 deposit check to Skokie Valley Baptist church and turning in a waiver. 

JAM NITE! SATURDAY, OCTOBER 23, 7:00 – 8:00 P.M.

We invite you to attend our next JAM NITE event for a different look at worship.
