Fast Facts & Relationship to SVBC
Birthday: February 2
Relationship to SVBC: Home Church: Tim attended SVBC 2002-2004 and was active as a volunteer with the youth ministry.
Primary Ministry Focus: Training of congregation members to promote the growth and development of existing Mexican churches. Training and development of emerging Christian leaders by equipping and discipleship to enable them to reach out to Mexico. Direct evangelism to the unreached, especially a local indigenous Kumiai tribe.
The People: Mexico is a Spanish-speaking country with most of the people being biracial Caucasian and Indian. It is estimated that about 88% of the people are Roman Catholic and about 4-6% are Evangelical. The Kumiai Tribe is currently represented by 13 reservations in Southern California and 4 reservations know as “ejidos” in Mexico. The Kumiai Tribe represents one of the largest of 10 tribes of Indians native to the Baja California area.
Ministry Experience: Tim earned a Bachelors Degree in history at Wheaton College and a Masters Degree in missions at Wheaton College Graduate School. After college he worked as a missionary reaching out to homeless children living on the streets of Mexico City. After 5 years experience in the corporate world, Tim moved to Tecate, Mexico in 2004 and worked with the local churches in training and developing Christian leaders.
Tim plans to continue with training Christian leaders in Tecate through BGC.
General Prayer Requests: The Kumiai received a grant from the Mexican government to restart their crops. Pray that the Lord would provide blessing and open doors in finding a tractor, good seed, and they would sense His presence and favor on them as they begin to start this project.
Alejandro, a national team member, has a new job overseeing the administration of all the registered churches in the region. Please pray for Alejandro and his new job.
Pray for Tim as he works both with the Kumiai and with his national team in helping the pastors and churches in Tecate. Pray for sustained health, rest, and a strong and growing relationship with the Lord.
Pray for Tim's Bible study with Jose and Andrea--that it would yield much fruit and that they, in turn, would be able to teach other members of the Kumiai tribe.
Pray for continued interest on the part of the churches in the States to help the people and church in Tecate.
