Primary Ministry Focus: John and Elaine have been working in Japan since 1985.  In their first term, they started a church in a high rise apartment community using door to door evangelism, evangelistic bible studies and the Campus Crusade video of Jesus.  In their second term, they worked with the people of Niiza and established the Church of Jesus Christ.

As of March 2006, there have been family as well as ministry changes to the Mehns' assignments.  They became empty-nesters and their two children Tim and Beth have settled in their new house without them.  Prior to the recent earthquake in Japan, John was the field coordinator of the Japan mission. 

John is now director of disaster response for Converge Worldwide Japan.  The Rengo churches are making great efforts to pray, send supplies, raise up volunteer teams, and give generously so that suffering will be minimized, serving the Japanese people in the name of Christ.

General Prayer Requests:
Pray for the CPI Leadership team as we consider the implication of this large disaster on our ministry.  Pray that this year would be a great year of ministry impact by the entire mission.  Pray for John and the participants as they begin four months training in personal evangelism.  Pray that Elaine's Bible study in English series will continue to grow and be used in other contexts and churches.
